Technology: Empowerment and Technology

New Tech uses technology the same way everyone else does: to accomplish their goals, in school and work. New Tech is proficient at using 21st century tools to succeed, and every student has access to a computer. 1:1 ratio of computers to students.

Team members share and interact via the network like the real world. Work can be contributed by team members individually or shared via the internet. Students, teachers and parents, all communicate via e-mail.

Each student has storage space to create and maintain a Professional Portfolio to store writings, projects, presentations, and any other instructional material.

Parents are able to check progress on the web access Grade Portal.

Instruction at New Tech is fundamentally different than at most high schools. Technology is only part of what we do. Yes, technology is part of the curriculum, but it's not our main focus.

In both, a server is addressed. In an email address the part after the @ character is the server, in URLs the part between http:// and the first slash (/) coming after that. A computer can resolve a server name to an IP address, which it can then use to transmit data to that server (like an email or a request for a web page).
