Review From Chapter 9: 9/30

1. The internet is growing too fast to track. Millions of new users connect to the internet every year in the United States alone, and the rest of the world is adding new connections by the minute. The internet is decentralized and doesn't have hard boundaries and keeps on growing and growing by the second.

2. They are networking protocols. The internet is built on TCP/IP protocols. The Internet is defined as the global network that runs over the internet protocol.TCP/IP is important for the success of the internet because it separated the end to end stateful link control at the enpoints from the packet based routing in the nodes in the middle.TCP builds on the connectionless IP packet transport, to provide a reliable byte stream end to end over the internet.

Cookie

A cookie is a small piece of text stored on a user's computer by a web browser. A cookie consists of one or more name-value pairs containing bits of information such as user preferences, shopping cart contents, the identifier for a server-based session, or other data used by websites.

It is sent as an HTTP header by a web server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server. A cookie can be used for authenticating, session tracking (state maintenance), and remembering specific information about users, such as site preferences or the contents of their electronic shopping carts. The term "cookie" is derived from "magic cookie", a well-known concept in UNIX computing which inspired both the idea and the name of browser cookies. Some alternatives to cookies exist; each has its own uses, advantages, and drawbacks.

Being simple pieces of text, cookies are not executable. They are neither spyware or viruses, although cookies from certain sites are detected by many anti-spyware products because they can allow users to be tracked when they visit various sites.

Most modern browsers allow users to decide whether to accept cookies, and the time frame to keep them, but rejecting cookies makes some websites unusable. For example, shopping carts or login systems implemented using cookies do not work if cookies are disabled.

Thursday, 9/3:

Main frame computers are large scale general purpose computers systems. The word main frame has its origin in early computers which were big in size and required large frame work in house. Main frame computers have large storage capacities in several million words. Secondary storage devices are directly accessible by these computers. These computers systems have more than one CPU and can support a large number of terminals.

Micro computers are available in small size which utilize micro processors. The CPU of micro computers is usually contained in one chip. Micro computers have low storage capacity and slow operation rate than main frame computers. Micro computers are provided with video display unit, printer and secondary storage devices such as CD Drive, hard disk.

TechReflect: 9/2

Many great things came about on the development of the computer and one thing for sure is the invention of the typewriter. Typewriters took lots of time and effort to get a paper done so the idea of a computer came to mind which will make typing easier, faster, reliable and save lots of time. World War II was one of the most influential reason that the invention of computer came. Many use of weaponry and gadgets were used in the war it evolved rapidly from those early days, with new technologies replacing old every few years. and the Space Race had a huge impact on the computer it spurred further developments in computer technology. Multitasking jobs were done before the computer so that reduce the tasks you've done before.

The automobile is probably the greatest invention that was created by man, it saves time, you get to your destination faster. But some things are bad about the automobile is that it threatens our environment by the deadly gas that is put into our atmosphere.

The television is used for educational purposes and entertainment as well. The positive things that comes out of the television is that the things you watch can be beneficial to you like the news around the world and so forth. The negative issues that arises from television that it makes you lazy and also inappropriate things might be showed on the T.V.

I think were better off without the Television but the automobile is a necessity in human daily life. T.V. is just a big waste of time it makes you not realize the important things of life it has no point but if use T.V. for good uses like educational purposes than that is an exception.

The computer connects you around the globe with a click of a mouse. Its for both entertainment like watching videos online, games, movies, music you name it. Also can be used for educational purposes like researching for a project or an assignment. The positive things on the computer is mainly everything about, you can surf the web, chat with your friends and etc. The negative issues on the computer is that it may get you addicted and may lead you into having bad habits and many inappropriate photos and pop ups are on the web.

I think that the computer is a necessity that humans do need, it saves time on not going to the library, it makes researching easier, its reliable and you can connect with other people around the globe.
